Rainbow iridized glass, each piece individually inlaid using the artist's own technique. The actual surface is quite smooth and matte; the amber has been pushed into the iridescent coating by 'flip fusing' or fusing face down on a specially prepared kiln shelf. Each fused blank is cold-polished before final kiln-forming; although small, the steep-sided bowls require forming in multiple steps. This set comprised of a large channel or ohtani (big valley) platter, four plates, and four mame-zara or dipping bowls. Platter: 425 x 110mm Plates: 150 mm Dipping bowls (top of photo): 65mm
